Red Wines

In 2020 the proportion of Merlot was a little higher than usual: 90% Merlot is supplemented by only 10% Cabernet Franc.

First of all, there is the pronounced florality on the nose: spring flowers, mint, plus smoke, tobacco and lots of red fruit. Raspberries, cherries, plums and cassis on the palate.

A vintage rich in contrasts: that's how you could summarize 2020 at Fonroque. A warm, humid, sometimes almost tropical spring, which caused considerable fungal pressure.

The Pinot Noir GG from Kirchgasse is once again a perfect use of wood by Markus Wöhrle, in this case by aging it in barriques.

BF is written in capital letters on the front label: the BEST BARREL goes into this local wine. A Baden Pinot Noir straight out of a picture book.

With more than 300 autochthonous grape varieties in Greece, it is not surprising that the red Mandilari is not known outside the country.

Kotsifali is one of the most important red grape varieties in Crete. Their resistance to fungal diseases makes them particularly interesting for organic winegrowers.

Deep red in colour. On the palate, aromatic nuances of raspberry complement each other with notes of red currant. Full-bodied, soft and harmonious with a long-lasting aftertaste.

Mild red in color with hints of lilac. On the palate, aromatic nuances of red fruits pair with a smooth, soft character. Full-bodied, harmonious, round.

Deep crimson in colour. On the palate there are notes of violets, black berries and leather. Harmonious, mild and yet expressive.

Fine and attractive crimson color with purple hints. Rich in finesse, fruity nose with notes of fresh cherries, strawberries and red currants.

Brilliant ruby red. The bouquet is characterized by toasted notes, mocha, hints of Mediterranean flora and hints of cloves.

Wonderfully aromatic with notes of red berries such as raspberries and black currants. Full-bodied and well structured.

Beautiful ruby red color with a dense structure. Intense on the nose with multiple hints of ripe black currants and green pepper.
