An expressive Riesling from the famous steep slopes around Rüdesheim. The nose unfolds with notes of stone fruit and citrus, accompanied by delicate herbal spice. On the palate, the wine is taut and cool, with a present, well-integrated acidity and pronounced minerality. Falstaff Ortswein rating: Initially closed on the nose, it becomes dense and complex with aeration, revealing caraway seeds, smoke, slate, herbal spice, white peach, fresh lemons, apricots, and orange zest. Finely and densely woven on the palate, with a mineral character complementing the fresh fruit, a juicy and supple base with a fine, ripe vein of acidity, and a powerfully saline finish. Elegant. 93 points Location & Terroir Vineyard & Terroir: Our Rüdesheimer Riesling is vinified as a VDP.ORSTWEIN (Village Wine) from the two VDP.GROSSE LAGE (Grand Cru) vineyards Berg Rottland and Kirchenpfad, and the VDP.ERSTE LAGE (Premier Cru) Bischofsberg. The combination of the higher Kirchenpfad vineyard (up to 208 meters above sea level) with its good water retention and permeable soils, and the Bischofsberg and Berg Rottland vineyards with their quartzite and slate soils and direct proximity to the Rhine, results in a classic mountain wine – expressive and with a cool note even in warm years. Aged in mature 1,200-liter wooden barrels with extended lees contact, our Rüdesheimer possesses great aging potential at Grand Cru level.
