Stephan Reinhardt, the taster for German wines at Robert Parker, rated the predecessor from 2020 with an incredible 99 points. The 2021 is certainly a little slimmer and cooler, in short a little more classic. Like all Clemens Busch wines, it is an absolute long-distance runner that really needs a lot of time to open up. We tasted the youthful FELSTERRASSEN over a period of over a week and that's what it takes to get closer to the wine behind the still distinctive spontaneous fermentation notes. The first thing that hits you is an engaging amount of Riesling spice: candied lime, red apple, blood orange and a cool herbal aroma on the nose. Lots of extract and also extract sweetness in the mouth. Yellow fruit in the middle: pear and peach, vanilla, creamy-soft. Then again very spicy with notes of mint, bay leaf and meadow herbs. Drying in the finish, with an almost brutal minerality at the moment, more stony and barren than salty.
