Once again, the 2024 IDIG presents itself as the primus inter pares among the great Rieslings from the Mittelhaardt region. A complex bouquet unfolds on the nose, with notes of citrus fruits, ripe apple, white blossoms, and a delicate herbal spice. On the palate, the wine is precise and profound, carried by a distinctive, salty minerality and a lively, perfectly integrated acidity. The body is dense and structured, yet the wine never feels heavy, always remaining focused and clear. The long, complex finish underscores the great class of this Großes Gewächs (Great Growth) and allows the terroir to speak to us – never loud, yet haunting; never heavy, yet rich. A wine with plenty of depth and power, all at just around 12% alcohol. A true phenomenon!
