The Kreuznach location Auf dem Krötenpfuhl is located above the town with only a slight slope in a south-southwest exposure. The soil is characterized by terraced gravel and sand with loess. The Riesling grapes were picked by hand and brought to the winery in small containers, where whole-cluster pressing was carried out. The Riesling was then spontaneously and temperature-controlled fermented in stainless steel and then matured first on the full yeast and later on the fine yeast in the stainless steel for ten months.
The Riesling Krötenpfuhl is spicy and quite firm in its fruit reminiscent of lemons and limes. Herbs are involved here, as well as crushed stone, white flowers and, in addition to the citrus fruit, a little bit of abrasion from the peel.
On the palate, the Riesling appears bright and clear with its distinctive acidity, which extends from the first moment right through to the finale, which is characterized by a mouth-watering saltiness. Here too, lemons and limes dominate with yellow and green ripe fruit. The wine grabs you straight away on the palate, is grippy and powerful. In addition to the fruit, there are herbs and stony elements. The longer the Riesling lingers on the palate, the more vibrant the acidity and minerality become. He shows a lot of energy that is just beginning to flow and has high potential.
