The term legend should be used with caution. But no one would disagree that the Forster Ungeheuer is a Palatinate legend. Basalt, marl and red sandstone are the predominant soil types. The basalt provides the warmth, the lime the freshness and saltiness, the red sandstone the fullness. This combination allows the wine to be very present without skimping on elegance. Matured 100% in large wooden barrels. At the very beginning of its development, the nose already shows an exotic fruit paired with a fine spiciness. Mineral on the palate, with a lot of pressure and a taut, wiry play. A little of everything, but never too much of one. Incredibly precise.
