The VDP. Große Lage Halenberg, with its 7.76 hectares, is one of the smallest locations in Monzingen, but it has the best reputation and is considered an absolute top location for producing unique Rieslings, which is not least due to the perfect external conditions. At an altitude of 160 to 220 meters and a steep slope of 20 to 70 percent, the Halenberg has a perfect exposure and excellent soils. These consist mostly of weathered blue slate and quartzite.

As early as 1997, the Emrich-Schönleber winery, which is now run by Frank and his father Werner, decided to only offer Riesling wines from its own best plots with a location designation. The grapes are selectively harvested by hand and processed in the winery under the highest quality standards. Particularly typical of the Halenberg's nose is the finely structured, salty minerality, which is rounded off by ripe grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas. On the palate, a typical herbal spice aroma mixes with the fruit and minerality and rounds off this great wine wonderfully.
