Aromas of cooked yellow plums, dried apricots and camomile blossoms. On the palate, a mouth-filling, pleasant sweetness presents itself, which harmonizes wonderfully with the delicate acidity. Location & Terroir Vineyard: The Geisenheimer Rothenberg was first mentioned by the noble Ruthard de Rothenberch in 1145. The name can be derived from two other possibilities: Rodenberg in the sense of making arable or clearing, or it refers to the red color of the soil. The size of the vineyard is 44 hectares, of which 5.44 hectares are classified as "large location". With a south-southwest orientation and a slope of around 40%, it is probably one of the winners of climate change. On the oldest location classification map in the world from 1867, rediscovered in 2011, this location is already listed as one of the 1st class locations in the Rheingau. Since 2005, this vineyard has set the German must weight record three times. In the record year of 2011, TBAs with must weights of 259°, 319° and an incredible 340° were harvested in Rothenberg. 2015, 2016 and 2017 are the last vintages with the optimal conditions for TBAs. Must weights of 170°, 190° and 230° were harvested. Terroir: Taunus quartzite, interspersed with red clay slate (iron oxide).
