The dry Rheingau Riesling Secret Council "J" 2016 shows a beautifully intense and complex, finely subtle-mineral bouquet of ripe white and yellow fruits and broken rock. Super elegant on the palate, with intense, ripe and concentrated but also lush and elegant fruit, this is a highly complex, persistently salty and tense Riesling with lots of expression and finesse. Stimulating and lingeringly salty on the finish, the 2016 is perfect to drink now. Location & Terroir Vineyard: Up to 15 different Erste Gewächs sites from the middle and lower Rheingau are combined in a site cuvée of the privy councilor "J". According to the principle of the first wines of Bordeaux, the first privy councilor "J" was vinified with the 1983 vintage. The internal quality requirements for this wine are still above the standard for first growths. Secret Council "J" is only vinified in good to excellent years. In rather weak vintages, such as 1984, 1987 and 1991, no privy councilor "J" wine was made. The wine will be sold together with the Grosse Gewächse. Terroir: Combination of the minerality of the Rüdesheim and Geisenheim mountain locations with the fruitful, deep loess soils of the central Rheingau.
