Site & Terroir Vineyard: The legendary Bernkasteler Doctor rises on its steep slope directly above Bernkastel at an elevation of 125 to 200 meters above sea level. According to legend, it was named after Archbishop Boemund II, who, after being cured of a serious illness, called this site the "true Doctor." Internationally, Doctor wines consistently rank among the absolute best. At 3.26 hectares, it is one of the smallest single vineyards in Germany. Terroir: Devonian clay slate soils.
