2023 once again demonstrated the importance of having old vines in vineyards in the hot Rhône climate. Their deep roots ensured a sufficient water supply even during the extreme heatwave in the second half of August. This white Châteauneuf-du-Pape blends Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Piquepoul. No vine is younger than 50 years old. The cuvée name, GALETS D'OR, pays homage to the large, distinctive pebbles that characterize the terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A captivating nose: pale tobacco, meadow herbs, linden blossoms, and plenty of white nougat. As open as the nose is, the white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is still closed on the palate, albeit with a surprising freshness and acidity structure. The 13% alcohol content, rather moderate for the appellation, is perfectly integrated. Currently, the minerality still dominates everything else. A great deal of potential.
