Chassagne Montrachet, in the south of the Côte de Beaune, is famous for first-class white wines. The Premier Cru 'La Grande Montagne' is almost secluded at an altitude of 310 meters, surrounded only by greenery, on the eponymous 'Montagne de Chassagne'. The special location in combination with the marly limestone soil gives the wines their impressive minerality, complexity and finesse. The grapes are picked by hand, strictly sorted, gently pressed and the must is fermented in barrels from the in-house cooperage (one third new). The wine is then aged on the fine lees for a good fifteen months. Light golden with a fragrant bouquet of vineyard peaches, honey, fresh bread and roasted almonds. Finely fruity on the palate, noticeably mineral, with lively freshness and wonderful length.
