If you come from German Riesling and then take a closer look at the Austrian varieties for the first time, you will quickly notice some differences, especially in the full-bodied Smaragds from the Wachau: often more body and more alcohol, lower acidity levels, often botrytis even in the dry wines. Stylistically, the Rieslings from the Wachau are completely unique and are among the best in the world; connoisseurs tend to draw analogies with Alsace rather than with the well-known German Riesling wine-growing regions. Straw yellow with green-gold reflections, apple blossom, bergamot and grated stone on the nose, citrus, ripe mango and with a lovely Riesling spice. Ripe, rather moderate acidity for the variety, plus a noticeable residual sweetness and a lot of creaminess give the KÜSS DEN PFENNIG a certain opulence, but above all a very soft, pleasant mouthfeel.
