A classic among Wachau wines. Power and elegance combined. Plenty of substance and potential. Concentrated and profound wines are characteristic of the Kellerberg vineyard. Even the nose is compact and expressive, with firm spice and smoky notes. On the palate, it is very deeply spicy, textured, and characterized by a firm structure. Precise and powerful with a beautiful acidity and a mineral finish. Smaragd stands for dry, dense, and complex wines from the Wachau; in addition to structure and depth, Smaragd wines also impress with their great aging potential. The Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg is a versatile companion. It pairs just as well with Mediterranean cuisine, such as a creamy asparagus risotto or pan-fried sea bass with rosemary potatoes, as it does with Austrian classics like Wiener Schnitzel or baked porcini mushrooms with tartar sauce. But more exotic styles, such as Indian lamb biryani (lamb stew with curry, cashews, and raisins), are also excellent partners.
