The Achleiten vineyard stands for wines with great individuality. The wine presents itself expressively on the nose with pronounced floral notes, vineyard peach, fresh culinary herbs, and subtle spicy notes, white pepper, and dark and smoky minerality. The body is juicy and concentrated; enormous extract, dense and delicate exotic flavors are beautifully balanced with fresh acidity; a long, minerally and spicy finish. This wine pairs well with classic Austrian dishes such as Tafelspitz (boiled beef) with apple, horseradish, and chive sauce or veal stew (veal stew). Grüner Veltliner Smaragd pairs particularly well with intensely flavorful Asian dishes; try Thai som tam (spicy papaya salad). Charming in its youth, but reaching its first peak after 3-5 years, the Achleiten Grüner Veltliner can age for 15 years or more.
