The wine region, named after a river, lies approximately 120 km inland from Albany and is part of the Great Southern wine region. It is characterized by a rather cool climate, making it an outstanding area for growing Pinot Noir and Riesling. Part of the wine is aged in ten-year-old Austrian oak barrels, the rest in stainless steel tanks.
