Little brother, big time. With over five centuries of winemaking history, Tokaj-Hétsz?l? is probably the most traditional winery in our range. Even though the Nagysz?l? location has always been somewhat overshadowed by the Tokaj-Hétsz?l? Cru, the two have always been closely linked. Originally they formed a unit: after all, Hétsz?l? translates as ‘seven plots’. In 1502, the Garai family formed today’s Tokaj-Hétsz?l? winery from these plots. In 1576, the name Nagysz?l? first appeared as an independent location, and the vineyard has been classified as a ‘first location’ since 1772. 2017 can certainly be considered a historic date here: the first vintage of Tokaji Aszú with 6 Puttonyos from a Cru location in organic quality! Apart from the rare Eszencia, this is simply the ultimate in Tokaj. In contrast to the winery's five-butt Nagysz?l?, it is not made from Furmint, but from the rarer local variety Hárslevel_ (linden-leaved), which makes this Aszú wine even more special.
