Giorgio Rivetti from La Spinetta purchased this historic business. Contratto, based in Canelli (Asti), is the oldest Spumante (Method Champenoise) winery in Italy. This was the FIRST place in Italy to produce spumante using the champagne process, even before there was Franciacorta spumante, for example. The grapes come from Bossolasco at an altitude of 830 meters. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. Color: sparkling light yellow, long-lasting perlage. Fragrance: strong nose with aromas of white fruits. Taste: dry and delicately fruity, strong, fresh acid, mineral.
