Giorgio Rivetti from La Spinetta has acquired this historic company. Contratto, based in Canelli (Asti), is the oldest Spumante (methode Champenoise) winery in Italy. It was the FIRST in Italy to produce Spumante using the champagne method, even before Franciacorta Spumante existed, for example. The grapes come from the Alta Langa and the vines are over 30 years old. Matures for 7 years on the lees in the bottle. Color: sparkling light yellow, long-lasting perlage. Aroma: strong nose with aromas of white fruit. Taste: dry and finely fruity, strong, fresh acidity, mineral.
