Rosé de Saignée champagnes are a specialty among champagnes. While the majority of rosés in the region are produced by blending white base wines with small amounts of red grapes, the saignée process is completely different. For this Rosé de Saignée, Leclerc Briant let 100% Pinot Noir grapes macerate on the skins for two days and then carefully extracted the juice. The result is a base wine with a much deeper color and a strong tannin content, the character of which is retained even during the subsequent second fermentation and storage on the yeast for several years. Wild strawberries, red currants and black cherries on the first nose. There are also spicy notes of liquorice, grated nuts and almonds. Really extra brut on the palate, but still with plenty of creaminess and lush fruit. Very winey, also due to the subtly noticeable tannins. A very good accompaniment to autumnal or winter cuisine.
