The first vintage of the 2018 Schrader Heritage Clone is bursting with ripe black and purple fruit. This wine comes from the N2S block in the To Kalon Vineyard® and is dense and bright with an excellent palate and fine-grained tannins. We are eager to see how this wine develops with further bottle aging, as it is already showing great promise.

Following a wet and cool winter, both bud break and flowering started later than usual. The summer brought pleasant, consistent temperatures with very few heat spikes, resulting in excellent phenolic development in the grapes and even ripening across all our vineyard sites. The lower than usual summer temperatures allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, enabling wonderful sugar development while maintaining structure. In the barrel, the wines displayed remarkable depth and incredible character, beautifully showcasing the benefits of slow, even aging. The 2018 vintage is a dream for every winemaker and has produced wines that offer exceptional enjoyment upon release and will mature gracefully in your cellar.
