On the south bank of the Awatere River, the river has carved out two sheltered terraces where Pinot Noir grapes now ripen. The vineyard, named Seddon, yields this uniquely fragrant wine of cherries and raspberries. A soft texture on the palate, juicy acidity, and hints of chocolate from aging in French oak give this wine its distinctive character. Medium-bodied ruby red, it boasts an attractive, expressive bouquet of ripe blackberries, raspberries, dark plums, violets, and cherries (like kirsch), underpinned by subtle smoky notes and earthy hints (forest floor, undergrowth, dried leaves). Very elegant, aromatically concentrated, and complex, with the fresh dark fruit of the bouquet and sweet spice notes, fine-grained, velvety tannins give the Seddon Pinot Noir its silky texture on the palate, finishing long with impressive freshness and finesse.
