The grapes thrive on slopes between 300 and 450 meters above sea level. The vineyards have calcareous, loamy to gravelly loam soils and are exposed to significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. Above-average temperatures in spring encouraged earlier bud break. The sustained warm temperatures in May led to rapid flowering. Thanks to targeted vineyard management and occasional rain, the vines remained stress-free despite periods of extreme heat in the summer. The harvest began almost two weeks earlier than usual. Because the weather cooperated perfectly, grapes of outstanding quality were harvested throughout the entire season. The red wines of the 2022 vintage are impressive, benefiting from a high degree of ripeness and developing complex fruit and a full flavor with robust aromas. The white wines exhibit pronounced, refined fruit with balanced acidity. Color: Ruby red. Aroma: Fresh and fruity bouquet. Taste: The Hexenbichler is reminiscent of red fruits and a hint of bitter almond. It has a pleasant fullness, and the finish is soft and pleasantly long-lasting.
