In the summer of 1993, the Buglioni family, a long-established family of restaurateurs, fulfilled a long-held dream and acquired an old farmstead and five hectares of vineyards and olive groves. Today, the size of the business has multiplied, but all of the vineyards owned by the Buglionis are located in the original zone of the Valpolicella Classico region, i.e. the hilly zone east of Lake Garda with the best locations in the plateau of Sant'Ambrogio and the valley of San Pietro. The "L'Imperfetto", which means "the imperfect one", was named so because it is neither a normal wine nor a Ripasso or an Amarone. A small portion of the grapes are dried until November, the rest are vinified into a red wine immediately after the harvest. The two lots are blended to create a cuvée which is then aged for six to eight months in 750-litre oak barrels. Also unusual is the use of the rare Croatina variety, which produces very interesting, mild and fruity wines. Colour: dark ruby red. Aroma: ripe dark berries, cherry. Taste: distinctive, fine fruit notes with hints of plum.
