Actually, the Rosso was conceived by the Consorzio as the small, previously ready-to-drink relative of the older brother Brunello. In the case of Poggio di Sotto, there really is no question of a second wine, it is more of a graduated Brunello. Youthful, with violets, cedarwood and sweet cherries on the nose. Unbelievable amount of extract sweetness on the palate, cherry juice and melted butter, with a lot of melting, silky-velvety tannins and very inviting. In the finish, herbaceous-earthy notes, dark tobacco, elderberry leaf and black truffle, which give the wine tension and length. Very balanced despite the warm vintage.
