This Rosso di Montalcino takes its name from a hill in the area around Siena, CIAMPOLETO, which was so famous for its mild climate as early as the 14th century that it became a synonym for particularly preferred vineyards in the local dialect. Younger vines than in the Brunello form the basis here, on average a good 15 years old. The aging takes place in large Slavonian wooden barrels, after one year the wine is allowed to mature in the bottle for another six months before it is put on the market. Subtle ruby red in the glass. Warm nose, floral, violet scent, red gooseberries and light tobacco. Lactic notes, ripe black cherry fruit and velvety tannins make the little brother of the UGOLFORTE accessible at an early stage. Juicy with fresh acidity, spicy notes provide additional complexity. Exactly the right balance between flattering fruit, drinkability and structure, in this sense a classic Rosso with claim and not a small Brunello.
