The Tagaro winery is located in the Valle d'Itria at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level. The prevailing climate here is ideal for viticulture. The dry heat during the day and the cool breezes at night provide optimal conditions for producing exceptional, full-bodied red wines. On the landward side of Locorotondo, the Lorusso family has been running the Tagaro winery for three generations and is deeply rooted in the people and the landscape. Their great passion lies in producing wine according to time-honored traditions. This strong connection to tradition, combined with a modern family business, is the secret to the Tagaro winery's success. The Primitivo vines grow in mixed soils containing gravel, limestone, and clay. They are cultivated using the Alberello (bush) training system, typical of Puglia. A special feature of this wine is that the grapes are briefly dried (appassimento) after harvesting around mid-September, similar to the process used in Amarone production. This makes the wine richer, more aromatic, and fuller-bodied. Subsequent aging in barriques for eight months adds further complexity and refinement. Color: dark black-red. Aroma: cassis, black cherry. Taste: dark berries, cherry, spicy aromas.
