In addition to his normal Nebbiolo, Giorgio Conterno also produces a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the Gran Cru Ginestra vineyard. The Ginestra location in Monforte d'Alba is famous for large and long-lived Barolos. From this location, Giorgio uses the Nebbiolo grape, from the slightly younger vines that do not yet have quite as much texture and tannin as the grapes for the great Barolo Ginestra. The wine ages in large barrels for 18 months. Color: Bright ruby red. Scent: wild berries, autumn roses, fruity. Taste: peppery, spicy, velvety, soft tannins.
