A rarity in the Alpine region are vineyards with a microclimate that allows even late-ripening red varieties to reach full maturity. Loam Cabernet-Merlot owes its exceptional character to its sheltered location and the unique composition and heat retention capacity of its vineyard soils. A long winter delayed the vines' spring awakening until early April. Bud break was followed by a further cooling, which delayed full flowering. The season continued with a warm June and a wet July, which ideally prepared the soil for the beginning of the ripening process. Dry weeks in August with exceptionally low nighttime temperatures, followed by a sunny autumn, provided picture-perfect weather. Although there were brief periods of rain at the end of September and beginning of October, the harvest was characterized by many warm days and increasingly cooler nights. This harvest began about 10 days later than the usual annual average and yielded significantly lower harvest volumes. The profound white wines of 2021 impress with their pronounced freshness and particularly delicate fruit aromas, while the concentrated red wines captivate with a ripe tannin structure and vibrant fruitiness. Color: intense ruby red. Aroma: Pleasantly fruity with delicate, tart aromas of wild cherry and blackcurrant, dark chocolate, and subtle herbal, slightly ethereal notes. Taste: Full-bodied and juicy with hints of cedar, dried fruit, and red berry flavors, fine-grained tannins, and a saline minerality.
