After the much too dry and hot 2017 vintage, 2018 saw adequate rainfall throughout the year, including snowfall in winter, a very rare weather phenomenon on the Tuscan coast. At times there was even too much rain and humidity in the vineyards. In contrast to the previous year, a rather cool vintage with a relatively late harvest. Very intense nose with cedar wood, roasted coffee, black olives and earthy notes, then the typical, ripe cassis and black cherries as a heart note. Dense, straight, with fine-meshed, fairly tight tannins. As always, the small amount of Sangiovese brings freshness and a little extra acidity to the cuvée.
