Ermanno Accornero is one of Italy's best producers. He and his family manage their small vineyard in the heart of Monferrato, in the town of Vignale. It is said that this is where Italy's best Barbera wines come from. Ermanno owns what is perhaps the best vineyard in Monferrato, the Grand Cru Bricco Battista. The vines here are over 75 years old and 100% south-facing. The Bricco Battista vineyard produces a fine, yet powerful and profound wine. Aging takes place for 12-18 months in French oak barrels and then one year in bottle. This wine is only produced in very good years and its availability is limited. Color: sparkling ruby red. Aroma: rich bouquet of black forest berries. Taste: full, juicy, fine acidity, deep and velvety, very fruity, and almost endless on the finish.
