In the summer of 1993, the Buglioni family, originally a long-established family of restaurateurs, fulfilled a long-held dream and acquired an old farmhouse along with five hectares of vineyards and olive groves. Today, the size of the estate has likely increased many times over, but all the vineyards owned by the Buglionis are located in the original Valpolicella Classico region, the hilly area east of Lake Garda, with the best sites on the Sant'Ambrogio plateau and in the San Pietro valley. Only the very best grapes from the top sites of Sant'Ambrogio and San Pietro are hand-picked and used for the Amarone Riserva. Only exceptional vintages are produced. After careful partial drying, the grapes are pressed starting in December, the wine is fermented, aged for approximately 24 months in barriques, and then for at least another 18 months of bottle aging. Color: Garnet red with a black core. Aroma: Cherry, plum, spices, hints of chocolate and licorice. Taste: Very fruity, black cherry, sandalwood, almost endless finish.
