This wine comes from the steep and slate-shaped fillets along the Ahr, located between Dernau and Ahrweiler. To ensure the highest quality, the grapes are selected multiple times and carefully harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place on the mash with natural yeasts and takes up to 21 days. The wine then matures on the fine lees in barriques for around 18 months, with 50% of the barrels made of new wood in order to develop a harmonious tannin structure. There is no filtration before bottling in order to preserve the full splendor of the aromas. The result is a wine that impresses with complex aromas of blackberries, elderberries, red cherries, raspberries, vanilla, dark chocolate and violets. Subtle woody aromas round off the flavor profile and give it exceptional complexity and finesse.
