The Dernauer Hardtberg vineyard is considered by Meyer-Näkel to be one of the sites with a pronounced terroir character: The vines grow on slate and greywacke weathered soils on steep slopes, typical of the Ahr Valley. The Pinot Noir is vinified dry and follows the winery's style – cool and slate-driven with clear fruit, subtle spice, and a Burgundian-style structure.
