The Pinot Noir GG from Kirchgasse is once again a perfect use of wood by Markus Wöhrle, in this case by aging it in barriques. A Pinot Noir with a simply beautiful nose: light tobacco, spelt biscuit, lots of sweet cherry and the typical Pinot smokiness. Extract sweetness on the nose, lots of spice and ripeness, with rather cool fruit in the middle, almost salty in the finish. Has pressure, melting, fruit, spice, fine-grained tannin and length: basically everything is there that is needed for a great Pinot from Baden. It just needs a little more time.
