The Les Cras vineyard, situated directly on the north wall of Clos de Vougeot, once again yields a wine of impressive precision and depth in the 2023 vintage. Fermentation took place traditionally in large wooden casks, followed by 15 months of aging in Cîteaux barriques. The wine then spent a month in stainless steel tanks for harmonization and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. The nose reveals a complex interplay of aromas, including dark fruits such as blackcurrants, blackberries, and ripe plums, complemented by delicate notes of cocoa and spices like clove and cinnamon. Subtle vanilla rounds out the bouquet. On the palate, the Pinot Noir is taut and mineral, with considerable drive and an elegant freshness. The silky tannins are perfectly integrated, lending the wine a harmonious structure. The long finish reveals additional nuances of licorice, wild mushrooms, and a subtle, wild spice.
