Fine Carignan grapes are the secret of the popular LE BLAIREAU. Unfortunately, the badger (= blaireau) that lived on the edge of the vineyard has since been shot by trigger-happy French hunters. The label Mas des Quernes commemorates this friendly roommate. Carignan is experiencing a real renaissance among connoisseurs. With a tamed yield level (old vines do this naturally), the wines delight with structure, fruit and lively freshness. In times of climate change, varieties with a touch of acidity are once again in great demand. And alternatives to the mainstream wines made from Merlot or Cabernet provide a welcome change.
