The sudden warmth encouraged strong canopy growth. Cool temperatures prevailed in August and September, slowing the ripening period. A month of very dry weather preceded harvest, allowing for balanced soil moisture. There was some sunshine just in time for the grape harvest. The fruit was larger than average. Nevertheless, the grape skins possessed promising tannins. The berries were optimally ripe at harvest time. A traditional-style vintage, reflecting the cooler temperatures of the year.
