The 2025 vintage impressively demonstrates the potential of old Grenache vines. The grapes come from vines over 70 years old, located on the border with Châteauneuf-du-Pape near Courthézon. The nose unfolds an enchanting array of aromas, including ripe cherries, wild berries, violets, and a hint of grenadine, accompanied by delicate notes of smoke, sweet spices, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is juicy, concentrated, and surprisingly fresh. Dark cherries, raspberries, and plums mingle with peppery spice, subtle herbal notes, and a pronounced minerality. Vinification with whole stems adds further tension and structure. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine matures for eight months in used barriques and a further ten months in large foudres. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it retains its authentic character. A remarkable, multifaceted Côtes du Rhône with an excellent price-to-quality ratio, enormous drinkability and considerable aging potential.
