The grape harvest was so early in all its phases that it took place at the end of August. The harvest was the final phase of a year filled with constant worry, ranging from monitoring temperatures at the weather station to closely observing the vines for any signs of mildew. The last challenge was the severe storm of August 15th with its 100 mm of rain. In retrospect, this proved to be a blessing. At the end of August, both growth and ripening seemed normal, but when the grapes were tasted, their extremely expressive aromas were a great surprise. The rain in mid-August had accelerated the ripening process! The harvest was excellent, and fermentation went very well. The musts reveal a young monster in the making, restrained, incredibly elegant, yet disciplined.
Deep black in color. The nose presents a wide range of intense and well-defined aromas, including spicy black fruits such as blackberries and black cherries, against a backdrop of subtle notes of cocoa and tobacco, highlighting the aromatic complexity of this wine. On the palate, the attack is direct, dense, and velvety, accompanied by fleshy and powerful tannins that create an extremely complex, long, and incredibly flavorful structure. A wine of superb balance and subtlety, it best embodies this vintage.
