The grape harvest was so early in all its stages that the harvest took place at the end of August. The harvest was the final phase of a year full of constant anxiety, from monitoring temperatures at the weather station to closely observing the vines for any signs of mildew. The final challenge was the severe weather on August 15th with its 100 mm of rain. In retrospect, this proved to be a blessing. At the end of August, both growth and ripeness appeared normal, but when the grapes were tasted, their extremely expressive aromas were a great surprise. The rain in mid-August had promoted the ripening process! The harvest was excellent, and fermentation proceeded very well. The musts reveal a young monster in the making, restrained, incredibly elegant, yet disciplined.
Deep black in color. The nose presents a wide range of intense and well-defined aromas, including spicy black fruits such as blackberries and black cherries against a background of subtle notes of cocoa and tobacco, emphasizing the aromatic diversity of this wine. On the palate, the attack is frontal, dense, and velvety, accompanied by fleshy and powerful tannins that create an extremely complex, long, and incredibly flavorful structure. A wine of superb balance and subtlety that best embodies this vintage.
