This wine impressively demonstrates the exceptional importance of the Los Vascos winery's location. Situated in the cool part of the Colchagua Valley, it experiences a noticeable influence from the Pacific Ocean, which allows for the production of juicy, fresh wines. The Chagual unfolds aromas of strawberries, blueberries, and blackcurrants, accompanied by an intensely spicy note. The fruitiness of this wine harmonizes perfectly with the invigorating freshness of its acidity.
Los Vascos' first organic wines are named after the Chagual, an endemic plant species from the coastal region of Chile. The vineyards and the surrounding community around Perallilo are closely intertwined, much like the Chagual and its butterfly, which depend on each other for survival. This idea of interrelationships between species, first discovered by Alexander von Humboldt, is central to the Los Vascos winery philosophy: everything is carefully considered to minimize the impact on the ecosystem, maintain its balance, and preserve life itself.
