The Malbec grape variety used to be one of the five red Bordeaux grape varieties and was also grown in other regions of France. However, due to its susceptibility to disease, frost and phylloxera, the grape variety has disappeared in large parts of France. It has found a new home in Argentina, where the Malbec grape, especially in Mendoza, has ideal conditions and thrives even better than in its European homeland.
