Charles Smith wines have long been legendary: first and foremost thanks to their outstanding quality, but also repeatedly because of their extravagant design. The black and white labels of the Charles Smith Eve Chardonnay are a very good example. And this text from the winery: "Some say Adam and Eve taught us about good and evil. Which explains why we know damn well today that our Eve Chardonnay is incredibly good.” The white wine from the USA glows yellow in the glass with a green shimmer. It smells wonderfully stimulating fruity. Notes of honeycrisp apples, nashi pears, lime and lemon curd paired with hints of white flowers and green tea create a delightful bouquet. On the palate, the American Chardonnay is dry, creamy (from the four months of aging on the lees before bottling) and smooth, yet invigorating lively. The Charles Smith Eve Chardonnay has a medium body and fine minerality. The multifaceted play of aromas also includes peppery undertones and in the finale defining hints of peach and bitter almond. The grapes for the Chardonnay from Washington state in the northwest of the USA (on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, south of British Columbia in Canada) ripen near the Ancient Lakes, an emerging location in the Washington State region. The Columbia River, which flows nearby, gives the area a cooler climate, which is reflected in the particular freshness of the Charles Smith Eve Chardonnay.
