The chestnut bush is one of the best-known individual locations on the Southern Wine Route. The name derives from the many chestnut trees that grow in the immediate vicinity and thrive in the mild climate of the Palatinate. Generations ago, people recognized the value of this location, which is due to its special microclimate and valuable soil. Protected from cold winds by a ridge to the west towards the Palatinate Forest, the traditional core of the chestnut bush lies in a natural basin.
