Sparkling specialty of d'Arenberg. Red sparkling wines are very popular in Australia, especially Sparkling Shiraz. In contrast, d'Arenberg relies on the grape variety Chambourcin, which was bred by the Frenchman Joannes Seyve in the middle of the 20th century. It gives a dark, aromatic, racy red wine, from which sparkling wines with enticing self-sufficiency can be produced. So the Peppermint Paddock comes with plenty of dark berry and cherry fruit and notes of spices and licorice in the glass. The combination of ripe fruit, racy freshness and a touch of tannin is also very appealing.
